A dazzling mystery that will keep the readers on their toes…
To keep the unsavory elements away, Victor Buddom builds an electrified fence on his property in rural Jamaica. After a man is electrocuted, another brutal killing follows. The handsome Inspector Black investigates the case but loses one of his teammates to a shocking murder on the Buddom property. With evidence in abundance and plenty of suspects, will the Inspector be able to solve the case? The book starts with electrocution of a gang member on Victor Buddom’s property and the parallel happenings would remind readers of James M. Cain’s ‘The Postman Always Rings Twice’: it’s not that there is any planning going on about killing the husband, but the emerging overall picture seems to promise the same flurry of activities. Soon, other sub plots emerge and Peart did a pretty decent job of keeping everything together. The blurb is intriguing, and the book is equally absorbing with an arresting story and plenty of twists and turns to keep the readers turning the pages. The pace is fast, the story intense with high-action happenings. The book is set in Jamaica, which adds intrigue to the story. Peart drops surprises after surprises throughout the story, making the book a definite hit with the seasoned mystery reader.
