Question: Do you accept unpublished manuscripts?
Yes, we welcome both unpublished manuscripts and published works.
Question: I have an unpublished novel and would like an editorial review. I plan to use pull quotes from your review on my book’s cover, but I’d prefer not to publish the review until my book is ready for sale. Can you hold the review for publication until I give the go-ahead?
Absolutely! Just let us know in advance, and we’ll accommodate your request.
Question: What happens if my review is unfavorable or scores less than 4 stars?
If the review is not positive, we will send it to the author first and offer them the option not to publish it.
Question: Can you post your reviews on Amazon?
No, we do not post reviews on Amazon as it goes against their policy. However, you can add our review to your book’s editorial section on Amazon. For details, please see “How to Add Our Reviews to Amazon.” If you’d like us to post on other platforms, like Barnes & Noble or Kobo, we’d be happy to do so.
Question: How does a Series Review work?
A Series Review encompasses either a partial or complete series and consists of a single review covering all the books. When ordering, simply increase the quantity to 2, 3, or more based on the number of books you want included in the review. Many authors prefer individual reviews for each book in the series alongside a combined series review, but it’s ultimately a personal choice.
Question: Why are editorial reviews important, and how do they differ from reader reviews?
Editorial reviews provide a professional evaluation, while reader reviews reflect individual perspectives.
- Credibility and Validation: Editorial reviews enhance the credibility of indie authors. A positive assessment from a professional reviewer validates the quality of the book, which is especially important for authors who may not have the recognition of traditionally published writers.
- Marketing and Promotion: Editorial reviews are valuable marketing tools. Positive reviews can be featured in book descriptions, promotional materials, and social media, providing independent validation of the book’s quality and enticing potential readers.
- Differentiation: In a crowded market, editorial reviews help indie authors stand out. Trusted positive reviews signal that the book has been professionally evaluated and is worthy of attention.
- Building Reputation and Brand: Over time, a collection of positive editorial reviews helps authors build a reputation and brand as quality writers. Consistent praise establishes their credibility and expertise in their genre, making readers more likely to seek out their future works.
In summary, editorial reviews are crucial for helping indie authors gain recognition, attract readers, and establish themselves in the competitive publishing industry. They validate the author’s talent and the quality of their work, paving the way for success in the literary world.
