Accident Among Vampires or What Would Dracula Do? by Elizabeth Guizzetti

A gripping tale of intrigue and bloodlust… A page-turner.

Set in the mid-twentieth century in Issaquah, Washington, USA, Guizzetti’s gripping latest offers a healthy dose of tension, action, individual drama, and emotional epiphany. Norma Mae Rollins was fourteen when she became a vampire. Living with her creator William T. Caruso, Norma struggles to adjust to her new life. But when Coven learns about William’s illegal experiments, Norma knows she must flee or face execution. The smoothly paced narrative alternating between Norma’s diary entries and the Coven’s dictations and memoires is jammed with terrific characters, convincing atmosphere, individual drama, and political intrigue. Guizzetti beautifully portrays Norma’s lingering doubt that creeps in unintentionally, threatening to break her growing bonds with others like her. Skillfully incorporated backstory makes already likable characters even more convincing. There is plenty of bloodshed and violence: astonishingly, Guizzetti manages to keep the story delightfully lighthearted. Crisp prose, expert pacing, and atmospheric worldbuilding keep readers immersed throughout. Urban fantasy lovers are in for a treat.
