Cold Cold Heart by Tami Haog

A typical Haog with plenty of twists and turns…

Cold Cold Heart picks up where Tami Hoag’s 2013 thriller, The 9th Girl, left off. TV reporter Dana Nolan is back after she was captured by Doc Holiday, a serial killer who raped and tortured her repeatedly for weeks. Dana managed to escape Doc Holiday, but her promising TV career is a thing of the past now; she suffers from traumatic brain injury and severe PTSD. After undergoing a year of rehabilitation, Dana comes to live in her hometown with her mother and stepfather, but her attempts at further recovery are thwarted after reporters’ questions reignite her interest in the disappearance of Cassey, Dana’s best friend from grade school. Dana meets Casey’s old boyfriend, John Villante, who was a suspect in Casey’s disappearance. As her memories of her best friend re-surface, Dana decides to discover what happened to Casey. The narrative is typical Hoag and the characterization is good. The hard-core thriller readers will crack the identity of the killer about halfway through the book, but Haog throws in enough twists and turns to keep readers glued until the end. The fans of Haog will enjoy reading Cold Cold Heart.
