A quick read with lackluster characters…
Psychiatrist Olivia Hofmann gets involved in a cold case of a troubled teenager who escaped from a psychiatrist facility years ago and was found murdered in a query. The girl’s murder occurred at the same time Olivia’s husband and daughter vanished without a trace. Olivia joins forces with detective Levi Kant and together they embark on a dangerous journey to find the murderer. Schiller uses simple prose and swift narrative to propel the story forward and keeps the tension high with plenty of twists and turns. However, the characterization comes out flat with rigid dialogue and uninteresting characters. Readers expecting the answer to what happened to Olivia’s husband and daughter will be disappointed as the issue is left unresolved. A formulaic thriller that offers nothing new on a theme many authors have already done to death but a quick read, nonetheless.
