A brilliant premise and great fun… Thoroughly entertaining.
Original touches and time-travel intrigue keep Murphey’s clever fourth installment in the Physics, Lust and Greed series ticking along nicely. With the government overseers suspending the time travel operations, the Happy Home Companions Marta and Marshall Grissom are determined to leave their past behind. But when a federal judge is murdered, they know the danger is far from over. With a Happy Home Companion cult of vengeance, the outlaw Gillis Kerg, and an evangelical zealot waging a war on science, the pair must tread carefully. Murphey skillfully develops his intriguing time-travel concept and its implications along with delivering excellent characterizations. Marta and Marshall’s search for answers yields plenty of murky intrigues, sinister conspiracies, and deceptions leaping across the pages. The danger escalates as the pair begins to dig deeper. Unexpected plot twists centering on Happy Home Companion cult of vengeance and Gillis’s involvement keep the reader invested. This is a solid entry in the continuing series.
