After waking naked on a desolate sand realm, Jo remembers nothing but her name. The same is true for her equally naked, fiercely intelligent companion, Christopher. As the pair begin their journey of survival, they know they have nothing now but each other. However, love demands sacrifice, and there’s Jo’s old flame who wants her back at any cost. Talionis creates a desolate SF world with fully fleshed-out characters, relationships, and challenges. Although the novel’s earliest tensions stem from Jo and Christopher’s struggle for survival, the drama shifts quickly to interpersonal conflicts that threaten to shake the very foundation of their relationship. Erotic sex forms crux of the story, and the sex scenes are scorching-hot and varied. All the characters, be it major or minor, have a well-developed voice and their own drives and ambitions, which keep the reader thoroughly invested. The unexpected finale ends on a cliffhanger, nicely setting up a sequel. A slow-burning tale that keeps the reader to keep turning the pages.
