The story excels in its tense, methodical buildup and immersive sense of place. The Nahanni Valley feels as much a character as the soldiers navigating it. Bruce’s handling of military operations and bureaucratic maneuvering adds authenticity, and the horror elements are woven in with restraint, letting dread accumulate rather than relying on cheap shocks. The pacing in the early chapters might be a bit dense for some, and readers looking for outright action-horror might find the psychological slow burn a bit too measured. Still, this is an outstanding mix of military thriller and supernatural terror. A must-read for those who prefer their suspense steeped in mystery and the terror of the unknown.
