In this short collections of poems, Shaun O. Smith chronicles his own battle with depression and anxiety, bringing forth an unconstrained examination of the depressed mind. Smith\u2019s struggle to cope with the mental and sexual abuse he suffered as a child is observed with passion and conviction. There is a glimmer of hope in some of the poems, but the ruthless ugliness of severe depression is sadly obvious, imparting a dark tone to the overall theme. Lead by his thoughts and disregarding the classic rules of poetry constriction, Smith writes freely, and the poems lack usual poetic elements. People who struggle with depression will relate well to Smith\u2019s collection.<\/p>\n
