The suspects are plenty, and DCI Tate has more than enough resources on hand. The only thing she’s short of is the time; it’s running out quickly. While entangled in a time-constraint, high profile case, Tate gets a tip about her daughter who was abducted a decade ago. It’s up to her now to sort out her priorities and decide which case needs her attention first. J. P. Carter is the pseudonym of a bestselling author who has also written sixteen books under the names Jaime and James Raven. Unfortunately, the quality of writing doesn’t justify the experience of Mr. Carter as it’s shallow and evokes no tender emotions in readers. The abduction of small children is a sensitive subject, and it can make the reading difficult for many readers. But the book is all hard facts and zero emotions. Carter barely scratches the surface when it comes to depicting emotions. The result: the characters are flat and fail to evoke any sympathy in readers’ minds. The plot is clever, but the final revelation fails to surprise. The ending is a cliff hanger, but with the first unpromising book in Anna Tate series, it’s highly unlikely that readers will be eager to know what lies in store for Anna’s daughter who is still missing at the end.

In Safe Hands

by J.
