Three high school juniors: the feisty Amy, the handsome Zack, and nerdy Charles have typical teenage worries until circumstances put them in the path of an infamous gang, the leader of which wants to offer them as a sacrifice to an ominous supernatural entity. Kingsley takes her time to build the backstories for her characters and regularly squeezes in the tension, making it an exhilarating read. Amy’s quick-witted resiliency in the face of utterly harsh circumstances makes her a highly likable heroine, and her fierce determination to protect her baby sister is portrayed with credibility. Fans of YA paranormal drama will be greatly rewarded.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
