She\u2019s wary of romantic relationships because of a past trauma, and money is important to her. She is a drab character who inspires zero sympathy despite her thorough professionalism. Dr. Shields is this creepy psychopath who hides behind a fa\u00e7ade of cool and collected exterior. The readers are first introduced to her through her intriguing narratives, which bring out the underlying sense of impending menace. The cat-and-mouse games of Jessica and Dr. Shields add to the ominous tone of the plot and keep the readers on edge. Readers might feel sceptical of Jessica\u2019s obliviousness to Dr. Shields\u2019 sinister intentions, but it wouldn\u2019t stop them from turning the pages fast. The narrative is intriguingly dual and shifts from Dr. Shields to Jessica and unravels the sinister lies of the former and hidden secrets of the latter.
