He learns about family ties, friendship, the value of learning and other things on the way. The illustrations are neat, and the story touches on themes of importance of family, friendship, books, and sports. But the unsatisfying ending (the Robot never gets a heart) makes for a huge disappointment and gives the story an unfinished feel.
