After murder of the Cape Charade undertaker Arthur Earthman, Kellen and Max decides to move to Isla Paraiso, a remote island, with their daughter Rae and a cook and a pair of eccentric housekeepers. Recovering from previous injuries, Kellen is forced to fight the vicious killer with only her wits at her side as Max leaves the island with Rae because of an emergency. Dodd is adept at writing a page-turner, though her prose lacks depth. Dodd\u2019s characters are thoroughly sketched, and readers who have read earlier books in the series will find themselves much invested in Kellen, Max, and Rae.
