Halloween is right around the corner, and Lady Elsmere\u2019s elaborate Civil War costume ball is in full swing. But when a person turns up dead in the corn maze, Josiah is the first one to stumble on the body. With the police\u2019s suspicions on her, Josiah must find the real killer fast. Keam is an expert when it comes to delving into the psyche of her characters and exposing their inner turmoil. Baby, the gentle giant of a dog (it has barn cats, the Kitty Kaboodle, as its own pets!) is a complete darling. The quirky and fun Josiah is an absolute hoot. There’s plenty of local color, with an elaborate Civil War costume Halloween ball, makeshift military encampment, and colorful farmer\u2019s market among others for good measure. The exhilarating ending is thoroughly satisfying. This is a perfect Halloween read. Go, grab it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
