A multilayered thriller which feels fractured due to lack of cohesiveness…

A prominent college athlete rapes a girl and ends up in jail based on the DNA evidence, only to have his DNA show up in another rape case while he’s still behind bars. Robin Lockwood, a former MMA fighter and a young lawyer with a prestigious law firm, takes on the civil lawsuit of the earlier victim of the young athlete who is conveniently out of jail, but a shocking revelation will make her reconsider her decision of representing the victim. Robin is also fighting hard to get another client’s murder charges dismissed based on the evidence of self defence, but DA trying the case is determined to bring the man to the trial. Margolin presents readers with a constant stream of pulpy plot twists: a privileged young man’s angry brawls, people’s manipulation of solid scientific evidences in court cases and their moral dilemma, a hard-core criminal’s acquittal in the court in a murder case. But a host of plot twists adds nothing to the story as the book only seems to be high on twists and turns without a solid base.
