Scott creates a believable depiction of conflict that forces Adrian on a wild-goose chase with an emphasis on deeply flawed, humane characters who face complex moral issues. Scott’s prose is crisp as he writes about complacency, justice, duty, and courage while shining a light on the significance of fighting for the ones we love. This is the third installment in the series, but the novel is strong enough to stand alone for those who are unfamiliar with Adrian’s world. Witty and thoroughly gripping, this is a page-turner.
