Falling Stars Over Belgrade by Jeffrey Kwitny

An addictive thriller full of suspense, secrets, and surprises…

Set in 1989 in Yugoslavia, Kwitny’s engrossing thriller finds a struggling Hollywood director entangled in a sinister conspiracy. Struggling with a dwindling career and a deteriorating relationship, Stephen Krawczyk accepts a job directing a low-budget horror film in Yugoslavia, a nation on the verge of collapse with the rise of Slobodan Milošević and the fall of the Communist Party. But a sinister conspiracy puts Stephen at a crossroads where he must upend all that’s he’s worked for or risk losing the ones he loves. Kwitny excels at creating atmospheric setting and skillfully manages the intrigue and page-turning plot, sprinkling in plenty of goings-on about the shooting and production work of movie business along the way. He kicks up quite a bit of tension to keep the pages turning, and the plot takes numerous unexpected turns as it builds to a shocking climax. The enjoyable blend of intrigue and suspense make this a page-turner. Fans of fast-paced suspense thrillers will be eager to see what Kwitny does next.
