An all-around delightful read…
In Nair’s endearing book, a young girl navigates the challenges of making friends while also preserving her beloved crayon and nurturing her imaginative spirit. Mimi bounced out into the backyard, armed with a coloring page and a pack of crayons bursting with every color imaginable. She had big plans for her masterpiece, but her attention was quickly diverted by some curious visitors. Mimi tried to juggle her artistic vision and making new friends, but things got tricky when one of the visitors had their eye on her last crayon, a pink one – Mimi’s go-to choice for the house in the picture. The storyline is as straight as a straw, short and saccharine. This book is like a primer for mini minds to delve into the depths of critical thinking and puzzle-solving. Nair cleverly lets readers discover the message themselves, because who needs hand-holding anyway? Plus, there’s counting and fun riddles sprinkled in here too. Noor Alshalabi‘s illustrations are charming and bright, practically jumping off the pages. A book will have kids laughing, thinking, and flexing their brains all at once.
