SOUL SEEKER (Gehenna Book 1) by Kaylin McFarren

Addictively dark, shocking, intriguing… An absolute page-turner.

Written with precision, clarity, and perception, McFarren’s outstanding debut installment in her supernatural thriller series gracefully puts her among top of the genre. Crighton Daemonium, a manipulating soul collector from hell, arrives in the peaceful town of Lochton, Illinois, looking to trap wicked souls of malicious humans. After wreaking havoc on earth, Crighton returns to hell, only to return back to earth and trap the soul of an angel. As Crighton begins his quest, his path crosses with Ariel, young angel, and his life turns upside down. The novel contains suspense, tension, and plenty of setup, with McFarren’s darkly intriguing supernatural world of demons, angels, soul collectors, and guardian angels providing a seductive background. The characterization is topnotch: the sinister, malevolent Crighton, with his disturbing soul collecting excursions invoking a sense of dread in readers’ hearts and the equally malicious Lucifer make for thoroughly evil antagonists. However, Crighton’s unfolding romantic relationship with Ariel softens and humanizes him. The sections depicting killings of various victims are haunting, the narrative moves at a measured, controlled pace, and the ending thoroughly satisfies. Rife with dark intrigue, mystery, bloodshed, violence, and this, combined with the fascinating concept of a demon falling for angel, will set up feverish expectations from readers for the next installment in the series. This compelling, electrifying supernatural thriller is a treat for urban fantasy aficionados as well as readers who enjoy their paranormal romance with lots of grit and bloodshed.
