A dreamy, fast-paced paranormal romance…
Trying to come to terms with her father’s death, Nina finds a sympathetic friend in the enigmatic Jared Ryel, whom she met presumably by chance. However, it soon becomes clear that Jared knows everything there’s to know about Nina. When secrets of her father’s past unravel, Nina finds herself in grave danger. It’s up to Jared now to save the woman whose protection is written in his destiny. McGuire is skilled at characterization, and all her characters, including humans as well angels and demons are sketched with precise skill. However, the dialogue is stiff, and ending seems rushed. Despite its obvious shortcomings, this series kicker will appeal to paranormal fans who like their stories infused with lush romance and strong heroes.
