I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll

A light formula thriller…

When the first phone call came on Wednesday, Journalist Alice Henderson dismissed it as a prank call. But by the next Wednesday, Alice knew the caller meant business. Stalked by an invisible stranger, Alice first turns to police and later hires a private investigator to uncover the threat. As things take a deadly turn, it becomes imperative for Alice to discover the identity of her stalker or risk losing everything she holds dear, including her own life. Told in multi-person perspectives, the narrative shifts between present and past and becomes tedious at times as the chapters in the voice of the antagonist, though forbidding, fails to carry the required threat of imminent danger. Alice and the antagonist’s backstories shed plenty of light on the relationship between the two and seasonal thriller lovers will have no trouble figuring out the identity of the villain. Driscoll’s characterization is flat and readers will have trouble connecting with any of the characters. The culmination is suspenseful and satisfying though.
